Welcome to Chelsea Shirts.
Chelsea were first formed in 1905 when the Mears brothers decided they wanted to build a football stadium. The football stadium was finished and they invited Fulham FC to make it their own. When they could not afford to, the brothers created their own football team which was Chelsea FC.
The team were one of the only teams (along with Bradford City) to join the League without actually playing any games. Chelsea wore the famed blue and white colours from their first match onwards and have kept the traditional blue colours (but ditched the white shorts and socks).
They became known for being the first team to wear numbers on their shorts in the Football League of 1962 and they also made many radical changes to their away shirts. There have been very few changes made to their home shirts however, and any changes seen have been very small. They are now famed for their blue kits. Take a look at some of the different Chelsea shirts available whether it is retro Chelsea shirts or signed Chelsea shirts you are looking for.
Retro Chelsea Shirts
Retro shirts are very much coming into fashion and it is always great to honour the teams and players that came before. Celebrate the 1970’s team victories when taking home the FA Cup and the League cup or celebrate the iconic players of old. Owning an older strip is also a great way to remember the times when the team lacked in sponsors as a lot of the shirts are just plain blue with the club emblem on the front.
There are also some fun away shirts from the past such as the yellow and green design from 1980 or the red, white and green design seen in the 1970s. Some retro Chelsea shirts were only worn once so may be hard to find but they still have their place in the history of the club.
Signed Chelsea Shirts
A signed Chelsea shirt is always a great purchase. It can be kept in a frame as a decoration or as part of your Chelsea memorabilia collection. It is a great way to remember that the players honour their fans and appreciate them as much as you appreciate their entertainment. Keep it for long enough and it could be much more valuable in the future too.
New Chelsea Shirts
Everyone likes to discuss and debate about what the newest Chelsea shirt will look like for the new season. Fans often anticipate the release of a new Chelsea shirt and purchasing the newest design is a way to celebrate the latest team and new additions.
The newest Chelsea shirt has been designed by Adidas who have been manufacturing the team shirts for the last six years. Their sponsors Samsung have also been with them for six years. There have been slight modifications such as the addition of the Adidas stripes and some lighter portions of blue on the front of the strip, but apart from that the Chelsea strip is still as blue as it was before.
